Applications

Help control the fog and condensation issues you would experience in an ice rink with a pair of Seresco NI Series special duty dehumidifiers.

Ice arenas present unique challenges because cold air is not inclined to hold much moisture.  Consequently fog, condensation and undesirable soft ice conditions are common problems. A pair of Seresco NI Series dehumidifiers will help promote a good air pattern in the skating area while eliminating fog and reducing the potential for condensation.

The skating surface is by far the coldest spot in the facility and acts like a magnet, attracting moisture. If too much moisture is allowed to migrate towards the ice surface it will begin to condense and freeze on the ice surface creating a very undesirable thicker and softer ice surface. The extra ice thinkness act as an insulator and requires the ice making plant to work harder to try and maintain a decent ice quality. Additionally, as the air cools it will form fog.

The Seresco NI Series dehumidifiers will reduce the overall  moisture level at the ice level before it has a chance to detrimentally impact the ice quality. The dehumidifiers also deliver slightly warmed and dehumidified air to the space. The benefit of this is that besides creating a good air pattern in the skating area, the air is also warmed a little. This slight warming of the air further helps to keep the air from fogging and also keeps the moisture from condensing so readily on the ice surface.

A pair of properly sized and installed Seresco NI series dehumidifiers will control the fog and condensation problems and also help reduce the operating costs at the facility.
